INTEGRATED TICK MANAGEMENT
This presentation identifies how to implement an integrated tick management (ITM) program in high risk areas such as golf courses and school properties. Reducing the risk of tick-borne disease transmission is best accomplished through a combination of methods including surveillance, species identification, personal protection measures, landscape management and targeted applications to control adult ticks.
TICK TIPS FOR OUTDOOR WORKERS
Outdoor workers that work at sites that are treed, have dense low lying shrubbery, high grass, or leaf litter are at a higher risk of being bitten by a tick. Workers at risk of acquiring Lyme disease or another tick-borne disease include but are not limited to landscapers, land surveyors, forestry workers, conservation and park and recreation staff, police, outdoor educators etc. This presentation identifies what employers must do to protect outdoor workers from tick bites and measures outdoor workers can undertake to protect themselves from tick borne disease.
TICK TALK FOR GARDENERS
Unfortunately, ticks are increasingly becoming a hazard to gardeners in Canada. This presentation provides landscaping tips to reduce ticks in lawns and gardens. It also makes gardeners aware of the risk of a single tick bite and provides tips on how prevent tick bites when working in the garden.
We provide on site tick surveillance and site-specific recommendations for reducing ticks on properties located in the Greater Toronto Area.
